Congratulations to ION Clean Energy CEO, Tim Vail, on being named a finalist for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Platts Global Energy Awards.
Tim has spent more than 35 years taking energy technologies out of the lab and into commercial service. He directed fuel cell commercialization at General Motors, founded and led companies including Synthesis Energy Systems and G2X Energy, and led development of the world's largest methanol plant in Beaumont, Texas, a $2 billion project producing more than 5,500 metric tons a day. Today he is leading ION's work to commercialize post-combustion carbon capture for natural gas power and industrial facilities, opening the door to the low-carbon power that AI and data centers will depend on.
Now in their 28th year, the Platts Global Energy Awards recognize leadership and innovation across the energy value chain, with finalists this year from 36 countries. Winners are chosen by an independent panel of international energy experts and will be announced December 3rd in New York City.
Thank you to S&P Global Energy for this recognition and for shining a light on the people who keep this industry moving.
Good luck in December, Tim.
ION is a global leader in post-combustion source capture technology. We are singularly focused on large-scale results and reducing CO2 emissions by a billion tons by 2050.
