ICE-31® CAPTURE SYSTEM SETS THE NEW STANDARD.

ION’s transformative ICE-31 solvent enables unprecedented performance improvements to the traditional liquid amine carbon capture process resulting in a carbon capture system that produces significant performance benefits and delivers value to the customer.

the ice-31®
Advantage

01

proven capture efficiency

With up to 99% capture efficiency, ICE-31 produces post-capture CO₂ emissions levels lower than pre-Industrial Revolution levels.

02

stability & sustainability

Unrivaled stability extends the life of the solvent without losing capture efficiency, reducing operating expenses for solvent replacement and disposal.

03

extremely
low emissions

Total volatile organic compound emissions are less than 1 part per billion, below detectable levels of current continued emissions monitoring systems (CEMS).

04

lower opex
& capex

Fast solvent-to-CO₂ bonding and limited need for additional pre and post process treatment equipment, requires less (and smaller) equipment and lower energy use, leading to lower capital and operating expenses.

introducing deep decarbonization.

ION's ICE-31 capture system can reach capture rates over 99% with minimal incremental energy requirements. This allows project owners to increase and optimize their capture rate, reduce the carbon intensity of their power generation (or other end product) and monetize their incremental environmental attributes.

UNDETECTABLE EMISSIONS

With ION’s technology, zero nitrosamines are created and incremental emissions from the capture process are so low that they are undetectable using standard continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS). Additionally, this performance has been demonstrated to be temperature independent, providing the ability to operate in high ambient temperatures with minimal cooling availability.

the proof is in
the pilots.

ION is the only technology operating on a commercially-dispatched natural gas combined cycle power plant in North America. We have safely operated over 20,000 total hours of successful pilot testing with NGT, CHP, refinery, and coal flue gases.
